Lauriann Greene-Sollin, Sommelier-conseil and French Wine Expert
A graduate of France's prestigious Université du Vin at Suze-la-Rousse, Lauriann has earned the French state diploma and title of Sommelier-Conseil (France's highest-level professional sommelier degree, a 500-hour program). Lauriann and husband Jean-Pierre Sollin were cited by noted wine writer Robert Joseph in Food & Wine Magazine as two of the finest wine guides in the world. Lauriann accompanies wine connoisseurs and professionals to France’s most prestigious wineries, where she leads comparative tastings and explains the nuances of terroir and appellations. Lauriann has taught numerous wine tasting classes and seminars. In Paris, she has lead wine tasting dinners in collaboration with Philippe Faure-Brac, Best Sommelier in the World 1992 at his famous Paris restaurant. She also has participated as a judge at French wine competitions. Lauriann's articles on wine have been published on the "Bonjour Paris" website, in International Homes magazine, and in Cuisine Tours magazine in Chicago. As a professional wine educator, she is dedicated to demystifying French wine and making it accessible, fun and understandable. Lauriann is an expert on the Rhone wine region and Provence wine regions, and loves to show wine and food lovers around her home region of Provence to share with them the culinary, cultural and viticultural treasures of this beautiful area.
Jean-Pierre Sollin, Sommelier-conseil and French Wine Expert
Jean-Pierre is a two-time finalist in the French national wine tasting championships, and recipient of the prestigious diploma of Sommelier-Conseil from l'Université du Vin at Suze-la-Rousse. Jean-Pierre has traveled extensively in the French wine regions for many years and has developed close relationships with the leading French wine estates. For over ten years, he organized wine tasting tours for the Enological Club of the French Senate, for which he also has taught wine tasting classes and trained wine service personnel. He continued this work as president/chief sommelier of the well-known French wine tasting school, Les Explorateurs de Vins. Jean-Pierre has led wine tasting events for major French corporations and private groups, and participates as a judge at French wine competitions. His sommelier engagements have included presiding at a tasting of wines that went around the world with the winner of the Vendée Globe international sailing competition, and leading tastings for the press and public to promote Champagne's best smaller producers. He has been featured several times on French national primetime television (France 2 and TF1), presenting educational segments about wine.
